Summer Weather Camps 2020 Now Accessible Virtually
If you are a parent of a rising 6th – 12th grade student who is “crazy” about weather, then this summer weather camp announcement is for you. Likewise, if you are meteorologist (TV or otherwise), an emergency manager, a teacher, and/or anyone else that you may know has a weather interest you’ll want to read on. Similarly, Scoutmasters, 4-H leaders, and those in Civil Air Patrol (CAP) should have an interest in what we are announcing here.
COVID-19 has crippled the summer camp industry (and weather camps were not immune). Many weather camps across the Nation have literally “evaporated” due to the virus. Here in southwest Florida, we took a different approach.
Armed with over four decades of combined nationwide weather camp experience and more than eight years of offering online math tutoring, the How The Weatherworks team (Matt Bolton, Barbara Levine, and I) are pleased to announce the availability of both middle and high school online / virtual weather camps during the June – August 2020 period. These low-cost camps will be fully interactive and will engage students in numerous activities, discussions, and data gathering/sharing projects. Participants will also have the opportunity to continue to reap the benefits of the camp program through ongoing mentoring and college/career guidance following attendance at the formal camp program.
Full details (including a complete camp program description, a list of FAQs, and application and release forms), are now available at our SWFL weather camp web site. You can also contact H. Michael Mogil (camp director) at 240-426-2900 or weathercamps@weatherworks.com to discuss any aspect of the camp program.
